This unit is a working pull, bought from the Public Broadcast Service (PBS) television studio of Alexandria Va. They were moving to new facilities and had 4 of these units and sold two. I talked to the engineers and was told the unit was in very good condition. I carefully moved it, and it has been in my storage unit since that time...about 2003. The machine was built around 1999...so only had a few years of service. These units were about half a million dollars new.
This is a "Video Tape Library"....also known as a "tape jukebox." The right side of the machine holds 6 tape machines...and the unit is designed to feed 6 video streams for television broadcast. The left side of the machine hold a hundred or so video cassette. The machine is programed to automatically take out a cassett at a specific time and put it into one of six cassette players....and then play the tape. Besides TV shows....these machines are also used to play the advertisments and such....thus automating many hours of TV broadcast. The machine is set up to hold digibeta and another size of cassette.
2. a dozen or so Odetics manuals/books....lots of them....Operational,Engineering,Mechanical lots an lots of manuals.
5. All the rack mount units you see in photo of the back of the machine.....Digi System 7 motion control and all the power units...
6. Rack mounted Grass Valley 6 channel video distribution unit.
7. Not shown in picture but included is an Odetics top cap unit that is designed to sit on top of this machine and hold 6 small video monitors.
8. Software is stored in ROM, located inside the machine in a Memory Module.
9. Wise dumb terminal, keyboard and monitor which can be used to program the machine.
I would like to point out that the picker head on the Z axis has a miniature microscan barcode reading unit. All the cabling for the 6 video machines is intact..
BONUS for by it now price. I will include a brand NEW, factory crated vertical arm and a brand NEW extra microsan barcode reader module.
This unit is BIG.....and the xy axis area is about 4.5' by 5'. The Z axis is about 12". There is an addition motorized drawer on the side of the machine.
Perhaps this would interest those into Robotics.....or if you wanted to design a stand-alone large size vending machine. Or perhaps you want to set up your own Television cable station.... This is a beautiful piece of equipment.
This unit is stored in Northern Virginia (Washington, D.C.)....and is pick-up only. Perhaps we can work something out on delivery if needed.
