Antique Tool - INDICATOR - Ideal Tool Co - Used
Tools, my how tools have evolved since the cave man. Well, if you are a tool collector then what we have here might be of interest to you as it is truly a machinist collectible. This is an Antique Tool - it is called an INDICATOR.
What is an Indicator I asked? My encyclopedic dictionary says: A device that indicates, such as a pointer or index. Any of various meters, gauges, or other instruments that are used to monitor the operation or condition of an engine, furnace, electrical network, reservoir, or other physical system. The needle, dial, or other registering device on such an instrument. An accurate measuring instrument used to measure small linear distances or to check that a component has the correct dimensions. Also called "dial gauge".
I will describe this Antique Tool - INDICATOR as much and/or best as I can:
* This Antique Tool - INDICATOR is called an INDICATOR.
* This Antique Tool - INDICATOR does not have a US Patent number on it, but it does say Patented on it.
* This is a small Antique Tool - INDICATOR that comes with only one piece that measures approximately:
* The Manufacturer for this Antique Tool - INDICATOR is: Ideal Tool Co - Rochester, NY.
* On one top/face of this Antique Tool - INDICATOR it reads: Ideal Tool Co - Patented - Rochester, NY
* On the reverse/back side it looks like someone scratched their initials: W G FI(or H) S
* The measuring numbers on this Antique Tool - INDICATOR go: 0-8-6-4-2-0
* This appears to be a nice, solid tool.
I do not know exactly how old this small Antique Tool - INDICATOR is, or where all it has been, or things it has seen and/or done, but I'm sure it has been plenty.
I am no expert, I do not even know exactly how INDICATORS work, but though it is older it appears to be in well cared for, excellent condition. Perhaps it could use a little cleaning. It appears that, in the right hands, it would work quite smoothly and accurately and/or know what it is suppose to be doing. A great addition to anyone's collection - perhaps yours.
