This is a long range WiFi radio - antenna signal booster
which is used for picking up FREE Internet hotspots and etc.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO GET STARTED.
We are adding 1- 3 foot cable for PoE to PC, and 1- 25 foot cable from PoE to radio.

* First of all, this radio gets away from all the limitations of USB style radios which limit your connection to one pc.

* The cable feeding this radio is a standard Cat5 Ethernet cable that doesn't have the limitations of USB style cables. You can run a 300 foot cable if need be without any loss!
* With the concept of built in radio and integrated antenna, you get the strongest, best possible signal you can get.
* This radio can be mounted ANYWHERE. Even on a roof to get signals MILES away.
This radio has a built in directional antenna to better home in on whatever WiFi signal you are trying to connect too. Since it is directional antenna, it isn't wasting all the dbi antenna gain in a 360 degree circle. It "focuses" the signal to improve range massively.
If you are looking for SERIOUS range you can link buildings together up to 15 miles away by using two of these radios with optional external parabolic dish antennas. This give you incredible bandwidth with unheard of ranges. (This mentioned option is sold separate.)
Hook up is easy, simply plug the cat5 (Ethernet cable) into the radio and mount it. It's that simple. If you wish to increase range even further, you can use the SMA connector on the back to hook up a separate antenna to better suit your needs. ALSO, this radio can be used as a BROADCASTER to start your own long range WiFi. This can be configured to use the directional onboard antenna, OR you can use the SMA connector on the back to hook up to a directional antenna, or 360 omni antenna and then sell, or give away your own Internet connection.
Package includes everything you need to get started. We ALSO have added a 3 foot cat5 cable, and a 25 foot cat5 cable that doesn't normally come with the unit so you can be up and running as soon as you open the box and configure the radio.

If you are trying to connect to an open router, or a WiFi spot, (like a Mcdonalds or other free Internet wireless system), this radio is fantastic for its cost. It has many options we will get into in this evaluation.
Range: First, we would like to say that the claim of 13 miles by the manufacture is possible but they don't explain what you have to do to get that range. I would rate it closer to 5 miles using the Internal antenna built into it. Which is really good. If you decide to hook even a better antenna to it, like a 24dbi parabolic grid, you will get even much better range.
Setup: Setting this radio up is actually very easy but having just a little basic understanding of IP addresses and basic networking will help a lot. The are easy to use instructions with this radio. It comes with a little CD that has very good directions. If we find anything else later on that we thing should be noted, we will post it here with this download link.
Hareware: Considering all this thing does, it's amazing they fit it all in such a little box. It is made to be mounted outdoors and we personally put it though the hottest summer days and the coldest winter nights and it never even flinched.
Options: There is a lot to talk about here.
o First, this thing has an option to be a router as well. In another words, when it picks up a broadcaster it also can be a router and dish out internal IP's to all your pc's. This would require a switch though that would take the network connection from the radio and then have separate leads to all your pc's. You can also plug the network connection from this radio to your home wireless router and feed everything in your house via wireless all at the same time. Just as if you were using a cable modem or DSL modem connection. (Very nice).
o There is a easy to use interface for picking which WiFi feed you want to connect to. And once you connect it has this LED meter in the back to show you the strength of the signal. That makes it easier to just adjust the direction until you have the most lights for the best signal!!!!
o We also played with another option, we connected to a wireless router a friend has in his house down the road a ways and then did online gaming. There was no latency or lag at all. (NOW THAT IS THE WAY TO DO THAT!) . We also mapped each others HD's and shared each others printers. Pretty cool.
o After playing with hundreds of "USB" wireless devices, it is clear that this is a much better way to go. Many more options, and better range. For the price we give this a thumbs up!
o This Radio also has the option to be not just a client radio, but also a Network broadcaster. Basically a wireless router for huge range.
