These are 50nF (0.05uF) +/-20% 600V rated ceramic disc capacitors. They are suitable for use in 230V a.c. mains driven Cockroft ladder type E.H.T. high voltage generator circuits. These circuits are often used to make negative air ionisers and electrostatic air cleaners but also have a variety of experimental uses in situations where you want to generate a few Kilovolts, like physics lessons on electrostatics.
The original Electronics Today International article on this type of air ioniser published in the 1980s used 10nF capacitors. These 50nF capacitors can potentially give you five times the current output when used in such a circuit. Here's an example of how to make one using 25 of these capacitors:
