Heat is the biggest enemy of a switching power supply. Most units that we offer have not 1 but 2 internal fans. Air cooled or units with small fans should be avoided. While this may be OK for Linear units, it is not good for switching power supplys. S/W PSU's produce their power on the fly and under heavy loads this causes a great amount of heat. Larger fans help disperse this heat but in all cases heat needs to be monitored. The Firestorm PSU operates @ 400watts peak. A similar PSU with voltage and amperage that claims higher wattage either does not understand what they are talking about or does not realize higher wattage claims means their unit is less efficient.
