These boxes are made from one of the mostly available crops on earth....sugarcane. Actually made from the byproduct of the sugarcane refinery, the waste used to be landfilled or incinerated before being manufactured into these products. A much better use of a resource, it helps deforestation as well as spoiling this planet through oil extraction. Compostable in approximately 45-60 days in a commercial composter and up to 90 days in a home composter. They are able to withstand temperatures up to 200F and they are microwave and freezer safe. Note: Hot foods will cause some "perspiration" on the bottom of the bowls. A huge benefit to using petroleum based take-out containers that have so many health/environmental problems associated with them.
