Draftcap- pulldown attic stair insulator / insulation

Draft Cap is a patented attic-stair insulator. The attic-stair opening is the largest gap in home insulation, increasing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. Made of durable dust-free expanded polystyrene foam, the Draft Cap will reduce winter heat loss and summer heat gain, thus, helping you save on your heating and cooling bills.
Lightweight and easily installed in less than 5 minutes, the Draft Cap attic-stair insulator satisfies all current energy building codes for insulation over the attic access panel with an R-value of +11. What is R-value? R = resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating value.
Home Owners and Contractors... Why Install Draft Cap In Your Home? Energy is lost through the uninsulated attic-stair access panel. Draft Cap covers your attic-stair opening to prevent air flow. Draft Cap meets all local and federal energy codes.
The Department of Energy describes the attic access as a big hole representing one of the biggest deficiencies in thermal barrier between the attic and living areas. As a result, the national building energy code has adopted guidelines for insulating the opening. Until now, no simple method has existed for contractors and homeowners to comply. Draft Cap offers a solution, with an easy do-it-yourself product that sits over the opening.

Check out what the Association for Better Insulation's Product Testing Division has to say about Draftcap in a report issued 7/2/05:
The Association for Better Insulation has tested the Attic Cap Corp Attic Stair Insulator sold under the brand name of Draft Cap.
The purpose of this report is to qualify monthly energy savings of this product installed according to manufacturer s recommendations.
Summary: Savings of approximately $19.26 per month were demonstrated using conservative temperature differentials between the conditioned living spaces and the attic space. Actual savings may vary according to local temps and the quality of seal and installation provided. Thus, it is fair to assume these figures to be conservative overall.
Figures assume average $0.000026/BTU costs and an annual temperature range of 32 degrees F as the low and 75 degrees F as a high temp.
This translated to an average savings of $19.26 per month at the time of testing.
This test was in response to many of our subscribers and visitors asking for a quantitative report on the effectiveness of attic stairs insulators in general. We tested Draft Cap by Attic Cap Corp only and these results only apply to this product, but should be indicative of the product genre in general.
As Draft Cap is the only PATENTED attic stairs insulator we could find, we recommend it as a device to use as a Better Insulation product for your home.
