Hydraulic cylinder with flow control valve

This is the hydraulic cylinder with manual flow control valve that was offered by the Surplus Center (no longer available) a few years ago that folks were installing on 4x6 metal cutting bandsaws. I ordered two of the cylinders when they were available thinking I would need a spare, but eight years later I'm still using the original cylinder.
Below is a list of parts from the Surplus Center ( ) that I used to to put a flow control valve in. Problem with just putting the cylinder in is that you have resistance
not only going down, but also when you go to lift the arm. You have to open the valve each time and readjust it to lower it with resistance. With the parts below installed you have resistance going down, but the valve is wide open on the way up so that there is no resistance.
The cylinder actually has metric threads and the parts I bought are SAE, but the threads are close enough that I have had no problem with leakage (I did use Teflon tape). You still have to do some
fabrication to mount the cylinder and the flow control valve, but that's half the fun.
