KEITHLEY 179 TRUE RMS 4.5 DIGIT MULTIMETER DMM
Need more than just a basic multimeter?
This one has several useful features not found in most meters. One is True RMS AC detection that gives correct readings on waveforms that are not sine waves, like triangle, square & irregular waveforms. It will resolve AC Voltage down to the 10 uV area.
Switch labels from left to right:
POWER (red), DC/AC, HI/LO (Ohms), OHMS, V, A, 2k/200mV/200uA, 20k/2V/2mA, 200k/20V/20mA, 2000k/200V/200mA, 2M/1000V/2000mA.
The Ohms function has a LO & HI switch that selects the voltage level applied to the unknown. The low setting won't forward bias a silicon semiconductor junction which keeps in-circuit readings from being affected by diodes & transistors. The HI setting will forward bias junctions & is the one used to check diodes & transistors in & out of circuit.
It will also measure AC & DC Current over a wide range from uA to 2 Amps.
This is it's red LED display reading my 10.0000 Datel reference source.
105 to 250 VAC, 50/60 Hz, switchable on rear, power cord attached.
It is used & in poor condition.
It has a sticker (left front panel), lots of scratches & sticker residue. Most of the white lettering above the switches is gone.
I have tested it & found that DCV, ACV, DC Amps & AC Amps work correctly & are quite accurate. Unfortunately, Ohms function has problems with readings that are unstable & way off.
The 8 feet of snow we received over the winter has still been melting! It's very close to gone now.
There is a lake not far from here. A few weeks ago, it was still frozen over. Seems a young female elk tried to walk on it & fell through. Despite the efforts of the brave rescuers, she didn't make it.
The swans, geese & ducks are having a wonderful time.
