Single digit nixie tube clock kit with ZM1042 nixie

Easy to set time via 2 push buttons
Three display modes - standard / fade in-flash off / fade-in, fade-out
Timebase is mains AC - works with 50 Hz and 60 Hz
Slimline design - all components on a single PCB
ZM1042 tube is socketed, so no difficult soldering required
The kit of parts is fully inclusive.
All electronic components are included.
11 socket pins for the ZM1042 Nixie tube (Often called 'Mouser' pins, they are actually gold plated sockets made by Harwin)
Double sided, plated through hole PCB.
Fully pre-programmed PIC microcontroller, with socket.
The kit is accompanied by a 18 page fully detailed user instruction guide to assembly. The assembly instructions include many detailed photos, and step - by - step instructions for building, testing and using the clock.
How can the clock display the time with only a single digit?
The clock flashes up the time in the sequence HHMM, with appropriate pauses between each digit, and a longer pause between each time cycle ie. H.H...S.S.....H.H...S.S.... and so on. It is really very intuitive, and once you 'get it', it is really obvious and simple to read the time!
The three buttons have the following functions:
Setting 50Hz or 60Hz operation and 12 or 24 hour modes
With the clock powered off, hold SW1 down. Power up the clock. Press SW1 again to select from the following options which are displayed on the tube:
When you have selected the appropriate option, power off the clock, and the setting is stored to flash memory.
Press and hold either SW2 or SW3 to set either Hours or Minutes respectively. When the button is being held, and for a short period after release, the clock will show only the minutes or hours that are being adjusted.
The three display modes are as follows, and are indicated by the tube displaying the mode number for a short period then reverting to time display:
1. Normal display: digits flash on and then off
2. Fade A: digits fade in and then flash off
3. Fade B: digits fade in and fade out
Press and hold SW1 until the desired mode is displayed on the tube then release.
The finished clock board is very slim.
Component side of the PCB showing compact but not cramped layout
