The Narda CellGuard is a precise in line instrument that continually measures forward and reflected RF power and calculates actual VSWR in cellular systems. Designed for universal operation in analog or digital systems, the Model CEL8450 utilizes a low loss, high directivity coupler combined with a built-in microprocessor to provide state-of-the-art accuracy and flexibility.
Long-term system monitoring of antenna or transmission line, which are prone to environmental damage, can now be provided by the CellGuard which features a VSWR (or return loss) threshold alarm. Therefore, before critical mismatches occur, system operators can be alerted to degradation that affects operations, equipment and revenues.
Service technicians can now rapidly measure forward and reflect power, have VSWR displayed directly, and verify the VSWR threshold alarm setting via the 16-character alphanumeric, backlit display.
The CellGuard also features an RS-485 compatible interface that outputs four values (transmit power, reflected power, VSWR and alarm threshold) continuously, and allows remote alarm resetting and alarm threshold variation inputs.
If the alarm threshold is exceeded, a built-in Form C relay (normally closed) opens to directly drive external warning devices, if required. Front panel LED's signal normal (green) or alarm (red) modes.
Packaged in a rugged aluminum housing with a protected display, the CellGuard operates off 20 to 28 VDC, uses precision Type "N" connectors, and remains accurate throughout its specified operating temperature.
