This optical heirloom has been in our family since before WWII (so I m told). My father s uncle was a doctor, but passed away. I believe he (my Great Uncle) was the original owner, but cannot swear to it. My father (who is now 90) ended up with the item, but the details, on how, are sketchy to him. It came to our NY House (purchased in 1957) and remained there ever since. He and my mom divorced in the 60s but the microscope remained at the house in which I still reside (time to move, ya think?). Anyway, it has been in my possession since the early 60s, and I can tell you that it hasn t seen more than 12 hours of daylight since then .. Prior to that (under my father s care) again it also saw little (to no) usage, as his line of work never called for such instrumentation. The rest is history .
Note: I do not have the key to this case, but you d be surprised how many keys open it really!
