SawCut Style Preformed Vehicle Detection Loop
The 14 AWG XHHW (XLP-E) vehicle detection loops were engineered and designed specifically for the Traffic Signal Industry. Using XHHW (XLP-E) insulated 14 AWG copper wire, this preformed vehicle detection loop is the toughest in its class. Each turn of wire is stacked tightly on top of the previous turn and held tightly together with a polypropylene tape creating a flat loop that tucks into a sawcut as narrow as 1/4 .
All turns and lead-in are made from one continuous length of wire providing a completely unspliced loop. The lead-in is pre-twisted a minimum of six (6) twist per foot and is available in lengths up to 100 unspliced.
The overall design of the 14 AWG XHHW (XLP-E) loop allows for a quicker install with installation time being cut by as much as 75% compared to hand wound loops on site. More importantly, the potential of a turn of wire floating to the surface during sealing is eliminated. The use of 14 AWG XHHW (XLP-E) direct burial wire diminishes the potential for loop failure.
