This is a great insertion thermocouple with a K-Type sensor, designed for an extra large temperature range up to 1832 F. The sensor is housed at the tip of a 19.5 inch long stainless steel probe, which comes with a large 5 inch long handle. It has a miniature type connector that will work with digital K-type thermometers (see my shop for a good selection).
I can imagine that it is great to measure ovens, furnaces or melting metal and it can be used in metalworking. Honestly, I first did not believe that it would work all the way up to 1832 F, so I got my propane torch and tested it, and yes, it works!
Temperature Range: -58 to 1832 F (-50 to 1000 C)
Probe length: approx. 19.5 inch (50 cm)
