'The F40M PVD-coated milling grade features a newly developed multilayer PVD coating that consists of layers of titanium nitride, titanium carbonitride, and titanium aluminum nitride. The coating is ultra-fine-grained, which complements a fine-grained substrate and makes the grade very tough and highly resistant to crack initiation. The F40M milling grade is the first choice for fine machining in ordinary steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys, and will provide optimal results in applications at low to average cutting speeds and where thin chips are produced, with or without coolant. The grade is especially well suited for near-net-shape machining and for operations on low-horsepower machines at moderate cutting speeds. For this reason, inserts available in the grade are characterized by small chamfers and sharp edges appropriate to light machining.'
