This O-ring Design is used with the 1/4 NPT or Bsp threads.
It is used to avoid cracking the housing due to overtightening the metal gauge. No Pipe sealant is needed with this method. Simply screw in the gauge until it comes to a firm stop. Prior to filling the gauge, gaurd insert this O-ring in top of housing as pictured above before screwing in the gauge. Factory filled units with gauge already have the O-ring installed.
