'Toughest coated steel milling grade ever. Dedicated for application area ISO P40, GC4040 also provides good performance in stainless steel and cast iron. Advanced composition of a multi-layer coating and an extremely tough substrate makes the inserts applicable in many cutting conditions. Capable of high feed under rough conditions within the medium to low cutting speed range - maintaining excellent edge security. Beneficial for all types of insert geometries, from the sharp light cutting to the stronger for heavy cuts. The excellent adhesion between the wear resistant multi-layer coating and the extremely tough substrate makes GC4040 inserts perform well both in dry milling and when cutting fluid is required. The wear of a GC4040 edge develops predictable wear, and has no negative surprises - an opportunity to reduce the need for supervision of the operation.
