SoyThane Technologies Inc. created two small walls stacking concrete blocks together. No primer or Bug hole filler was used. For accuracy in amounts of material used the walls were both sprayed through the SoyThane FastKick combination spray gun/proportioner. The wall to the left was sprayed with SoyThanes Maxliner Polyurea. The wall to the right was sprayed with SoyThanes ExpandoThane Polyurea that expands 5 7 times its volume to create a Polyurea membrane. Both materials dry instantly. The wall to the left had a finished thickness of 0.048 and pin holeing and small bug hole voids were found which is typical of Polyurea. The Polyurea also showed no gap filling abilities. The wall to the right was sprayed with SoyThanes ExpandoThane Polyurea. With the same volume of material the ExpandoThane achieved a thickness of .298 or about 7 times the thickness of the regular Polyurea. No pinholes or voids were found and the ExpandoThane filled the gaps between the unmortered blocks. On a similar block wall spray with mortared blocks it was found using a Hot High Pressure Plural Component Machine the ExpandoThane could be applied as thin as 40 to 60 mills leaving no pinholes or voids due to its unique micro expansion formulation. Due to this ExpandoThane appears to have phenomenal cost savings both in material and labor as a waterproofing for concrete foundation walls. Testing is underway for ExpandoThane as a Waterproofing membrane over existing old leaky Flat Tile Roofs as a way to act as a Polyurea Roof Coating. SoyThane is in hopes that by tying the tile together as a seamless ultra strong membrane that tests will show a greater Hurricane resistance the present new Tile Roofs.
