The MTX9P pump laser module is an InGaAs/GaAIAs multi-quantum-well laser device that emits at 980nm, and is packaged in a 14-pin hermetic butterfly package. The laser module also contains a thermoelectric cooler, a thermistor, and a monitor photodiode. It is optionally available with or without fiber Bragg grating wavelength stabilization.
The device is designed for use as a continuous wave pump source for Erbium-doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs). It is pigtailed with a minimum of one meter of Corning Flexcore 1060 250 mm fiber, which allows for a minimum bending radius of 25 mm.
The MTX9P series uses a proprietary facet passivation process (MX5), which effectively protects the laser facets from catastrophic optical damage (COD) at high operating optical power densities. The lasers are 100% burned in at an industry-best 100C to ensure reliable operation.
