The Measurement Board is part of a total solution for an interferometry based motion measurement system. Minimally, a displacement measuring interferometer system consists of a laser head, optics, and a Measurement Board. The function of the Measurement Board is to convert a measurement signal from an interferometer and a reference signal from the laser head into measurement data in the form of a 36-bit (or 32-bit) 2 s complement word. The ZMI PC Measurement Board, is a register based ISA slave card used with Zygo motion measuring interferometers. Its circuitry converts the interference signal of the interferometer to position and velocity data.
