Steady rest jaws for south bend 9 10 lathe follower

Eliminate the need to keep lubricant on the old friction type steady rest jaws. Ball bearing steady rest jaws will allow you to concentrate on your machining rather than having your mind preoccupied with the lubricant on the old friction type. You know how aggravating the lubricant is, it just does not seem to stay where you put it.
Thread = 3/8-10 Left Hand Class II internal
CNC machined by Toolmaker, made in USA,
TIP: When adjusting the steady rest jaws, only bring each jaw into very light contact with the workpiece. Adjust them in till they just touch the workpiece. Do not squeeze the work with the jaws.
TIP: If the jaws are adjusted properly the bearings will not produce heat. But pay attention to the heat that is generated from machining. The heat from machining could harm the bearings, but it would have to get really hot to hurt the bearing.
TIP: To help reduce the heat from cutting, make sure the cutting tool is sharp, has a keen edge and use moderate cutting speeds. Use a hone (320 grit or finer) to make a fine cutting edge on the tool after grinding. Please email if you have question.
