The Model 177 Precision Tone Generator is used for telecom industry
pair identification and fault locating: supplies precise 577.5Hz crystal-
controlled signal. Variable output allows signal strength adjustment to
suit field conditions and improve accuracy. Works with any common
amplifier and exploring coil as an aerial fault locator. For communications
over inactive pairs, Model 177 supplies talk battery to power two
telephone butt-in test sets. Three test leads are equipped with tradi-
tional bent nose piercing clips with "bed of nails" insulation piercing pins.
Tone generator and test leads fit neatly in a durable, protective woven
polyester carrying case with shoulder strap.
