The series 8036A is a solid state proximity switch available in either an inductive or capacitive sensing model. Inductive models sense all types of metal. Capacitive models sense both metals and non-metals sucah as glass, wood, plastics, liquid, etc.
Each unit has a threaded body and is supplied with two (2) mounting nuts and adjusting screwdrive (for capacitive units).
Capacitive models are equiped with a rear mounted sensitivity pot.
Adjustable from 1.5 - 15 mm (.059" - 59") the capacitive proximity switch is preset at the factory for a maximum permissible detection range of 15 mm based on a water surface as a standard. The maximum detection range can be reduced by a build-in potentiometer. Instability of operation occurs if the range is increased in excess of the operational maximum. The inductive model has a maximum range of 10 mm (.40") based on a steel surface. When materials other than water or steel are to be sensed, the detection range changes as indicated in the conversion factor chart.
