LTC1569-7 self clocked switch capacitor filter soic


This switch capacitor filter chip implements a 10th order root raised Cosine low pass filter. Its' cut-off frequency can be set from 2 KHz to 300 KHz, on +/- 5 V supplies. On a plus 5V single sided supply, it will work from 2KHz to 300 KHz, but on a plus 3 V supply its' only specified to a 150KHz. The switch capacitor filter clock runs at 64 times the cut-off frequency, and can be external or internal using its' onboard oscillator. Maximum DC offset is specified at 5mV. Input may be differential or single ended.
If you use this chip please remember that a switch capacitor filter, although analogue, is a sample data system and therefore it must be preceeded by a conventional (continuous time) low pass anti-aliasing filter. However, since aliasing occurs at frequencies beyond half the sampling rate, and the sample rate is 64 times the cut-off frequency, then aliasing occurs at 32 times the filter cut-ff frequency. This means that a very simple passive first order low pass filter consisting of an R and C to ground will normally be all that is required. This is sometimes refferred to as a 'roofing' filter, and its' -3dB corner frequency should be set at 2 octaves above the switch capcitor filter cut-off frequency, to have negligible effect on the overall filter response.
The chip comes in a 8 pin SOIC package.
This is CMOS, therefore it is static-sensitive.
