This spring is brand new and is intended to assist in lifting garden tractor implements. They may very well have many other uses they would work to assist with lifting any item that weighs close to 400 pounds! The material is .250 inch chrome silicon steel with an outside diameter of 1.9 inches. As you can see from the photo the hooks face in same direction and are opened about 1.5 times wire thickness.
Most extension springs you see listed here will have a description that lists maximum deflection and maximum weight, in this case it is a spring that people have asked about so I cut a few and hooked them at 4 inches and 6 coils.
