Emco compact 5 cnc lathe & tool changer welturn control
This is a great Emco Compact 5 CNC Lathe with the 6 tool changer and a WelTurn controller. I purchased this some time ago intending to use it to make some prototypes but it is just not big or powerful enough for what I need. I was trying to turn some brass pieces on it and it couldn't keep up. Maybe I was pushing it too hard or maybe I had the wrong tooling, either way, I am going to sell this and find something bigger. This will probably work fine for plastic or maybe I was not using it right. My loss your gain.
As you can see in the video, the one motor is noisier than the other one. The belt may need to be adjusted - however when I put a dial indicator on it the movement indicated in the LED display was correct (I checked it in inches only), so maybe it is just a noisy motor. The speed of both motors and the spindle can be changed with the knobs as demonstrated.
Although I did not use it, this has a WelTurn controller installed. I do not have the software, but it is still available throught the vendor. The welturn controller is connected the the tool changer and presumably the spindle to display the rpms as well (since they are not displayed on the face of the machine). In order to use the welturn controller, the emco board has to be removed from the sockets in the middle of the one picture and the plugs from the controller inserted. This is very easy to do and takes less than a minute. The plugs are labeled.
