Radiant barrier insulation house wrap thermalcool

This stuff is amazing. Before the heating and cooling systems were installed in my new house, I wrapped the exterior walls with this radiant barrier, and the effect was immediate and very noticeable. The interior of the unfinished house remained stable through out the day, even with an outside temperature increase of 35 degrees F. Although I can't confirm it, this makes me believe the manufacturers claim of reducing energy bills by 40 - 50%
The material is two sided aluminum with a layer of flame retardant Kraft paper tri-directional fiberglass scrim - reflects 97% of radiant heat.

Thermalkool Radiant Barrier Insulation -
*Keep your Home Cool in the Summer and Warm in the Winter
*Radiant Barrier for Attic Spaces, Crawl Spaces or Wrap your whole House
*Radiant Barrier For Energy-Efficiency
* Simple, sturdy installation in attic
* Strong-foil-faced with poly mesh backing to resist damage during installation
* Keeps your home cooler in summer for lower cooling costs
* Stabilizes cold weather energy loss-reduces heat loss through ceiling in winter. In the Summer, the foil barrier reflects the sun's rays from the roof, stops heat absorption into
the fiberglass before it's released into the living area, and eliminates overheating in attics. In
cold weather, the radiant barrier reflects heat escaping through the ceiling, stabilizes energy
loss, and reduces night-time heat loss.
Radiant Barrier pays back it's purchase price by reducing energy bills
Standard attic insulation is designed to reduce heat loss/gain in the living area due to convection and conduction only. The thicker the insulation layer, the lower the heat loss/gain through conduction and convection. BUT THE HEAT LOSS/GAIN THROUGH RADIATION WILL CONTINUE UNABATED and radiation is the largest factor. All warm objects radiate heat in all directions in a straight line until they are reflected or absorbed by an object. So to increase the effectiveness of the attic insulation you want to keep as much heat as possible from getting to it in the summer and keep the heat in the insulation in the winter... to minimize heat gain/loss due to radiation.

Many builders us a standard polyethylene house wrap such as Dupont Tyvek. Tyvek has no energy saving or thermal properties. You can verify this by looking ad Dupont's 28 page Tyvek Handbook at http://www2.dupont.com/Tyvek/en_US/assets/downloads/tyvek_handbook.pdf
For less than the cost of a roll of Tyvek, you can purchase a roll of Thermalcool Radiant Barrier here and reduce your energy cost by 20 - 50%.
