This depth gage has a short range so it designed for a specific application. It can be adjusted between applications but once set-up it is very accurate. It has been stored for years in a foam filled box and the foam has corroded the bare metal. It operates now but is the rod is slightly sticky. Should be sent out for calibration and cleaning anyway. I am sure this is at least a $200. item so the cal & clean is a minor cost.
