FCI s thermal dispersion technology employs two equally matched Platinum RTD sensors. One RTD is internally heated developing a temperature difference (delta-T) between the two sensors. This difference is read in millivolts (mV). This delta-T is greatest when there is no flow or the sensors are in air with no liquid present. When flow or liquid is present, heat is removed from the heated sensor, reducing the delta-T. When this difference reaches a preset limit, the switch energizes or de-energizes. Because different media have different thermal properties, FCI s thermal dispersion technology can be used to detect specific gases flowing or detect level and/or interfaces in a variety of media. Temperature compensation assures accuracy is maintained throughout media temperature fluctuations of up to 105 F.
