Directional Groove Technology reduces transmission volume and surface tension between the steel plate and the friction material allowing firmer gripping forces. The Ford OEM design rotationally specific to allow centrifugal forces to channel and discharge the fluid from between the steel and the friction by means of the .008 deep pressed grooves.
Note: for company offered directional groove plates for 4R44E / 5R55E in 1997. It is recommended for retrofit from 1990+.
