This Northwestern Model 60 machine was once, in a previous life, yellow. It has been spray painted red and, although it was not a professional job (looks like it was spray painted by hand), it does look fine to place on location (we did). Since being pulled the glass globes were replaced with brand new plastic ones, as well as brand new locks and keys. The center rods may have some paint or rust on them which can easily be removed with a wire brush or steel wool. Alternatively, new center rods can be purchased though a parts distributor.
