Cover the ways on your Sherline mill; protect the Y axis leadscrew and the dovetail slides from chips and dirt. A leadscrew covered with dirt can wear and increase backlash. Dirt on the slides can cause wear and binding.
The parts included mount without the need for drilling the machine; just install the 2 long screws to clamp the covers to the saddle. A long cable wrap holds the rear cover to the column base, and the front cover is allowed to move back and forth with the saddle.
-front and rear covers, installed onto painted aluminum mounting plates. Covers are heavy Buna N rubber and resist oils and cutting fluids.
